THE PEOPLES BANK OFFERS FREE HURRICANE TRACKING MAPS
Traditional paper tracking maps include emergency information and supplement online tracking when the power goes out
BILOXI, MS (July 2, 2012)—The Peoples Bank is once again offering local residents free hurricane tracking maps at all 16 of the bank’s branches across the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
The maps feature a wealth of emergency information, including evacuation routes, hurricane preparation tips, emergency management phone numbers and public broadcasting radio stations around the state.
“Even though we live in a digital age, our customers have consistently requested paper tracking maps, because they are portable and do not require electric power to be used,” said Chevis C. Swetman, president and CEO of the bank.
“We encourage everyone to have a disaster plan in place that includes the ability to access bank accounts online in the case of evacuation outside this area,” Swetman added.
The Peoples Bank hurricane tracking maps also include updated information on 2012 storm names and the revised storm strength scale that was implemented this year by the National Hurricane Center.
Founded in 1896, with $900 million in assets as of March 31, 2012, The Peoples Bank operates 16 branches along the Mississippi Gulf Coast in Hancock, Harrison, Jackson and Stone counties. In addition to a comprehensive range of retail and commercial banking services, the bank also operates a trust and investment services department that has provided customers with financial, estate and retirement planning services since 1936.
The Peoples Bank is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Peoples Financial Corporation, listed on the NASDAQ Capital Market under the symbol PFBX. Additional information is available on the Internet at www.thepeoples.com.
